Gearing Up is the student work placement program for Canada’s mining industry. It brings industry stakeholders together to create new work-integrated learning (WIL) opportunities to better position post-secondary students to secure employment in their field of study.
Led by MiHR, Gearing Up is creating over 1250 new WIL opportunities. Wage subsidies up to $7,500 are available to employers who create new coops, internships, field placements, applied projects, capstone projects or case competitions.
MiHR works with a national consortium of mining employers, service providers, industry associations and post-secondary institutions to implement program activities and inform how industry and education can work together more collaboratively through WIL.
The Portal is for employers and students involved in the Gearing Up program. This site enables mining employers to efficiently provide all relevant and required details for the wage subsidy program and monitor the progress of their applications.
